I have a copy and it is pretty good. Makes good a reference book too. You get to download the 1st 3 chapters (and some sample programs) for free so judge for yourself. Might be worth it.
Murach's Structured COBOL
Recently they have published a mainframe COBOL book.
Given that you would most likely work with mainframes then this book (which pays particular attention to IBM mainframes) would seem a pretty good idea.
